This policy explains what personal information HALO Auto Styling collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or delete it. We've written it in plain English rather than legal boilerplate, because you should be able to actually read it.
The short version. We collect your name, contact details and some information about your vehicle so we can quote and do the work. We use Meta and Google tools on this website and in our advertising, which means some information about your visit is shared with them. We don't sell your information to anyone. Email hi@haloautostyling.com.au and we'll tell you what we hold or delete it.
Who we are
HALO Auto Styling is a mobile headlight restoration and auto detailing business based in Maroochydore, servicing the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean HALO Auto Styling, and "you" means anyone who contacts us, books us, or uses this website.
We're a small business. Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), businesses with an annual turnover of $3 million or less are generally exempt from the Australian Privacy Principles. We handle your information in line with those principles anyway, because it's the right way to treat it.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Booking requests — your name, mobile number, vehicle make and model, suburb, the package you want, your preferred date and time, and any notes you add.
- Commercial and fleet enquiries — business name, contact name, phone number, email address, suburb or depot location, vehicle types and numbers, and anything you write in the notes field.
- Facebook and Instagram lead forms — if you fill in one of our enquiry forms inside Facebook or Instagram, we receive the details you submit there, usually your name, phone number and email address.
- Direct contact — anything you send us by text message, phone call, email or social media, including photos of your vehicle.
- Online bookings — if you book through our online calendar, the details you enter there.
Information we collect automatically
- Website usage — your IP address, the type of device and browser you're using, which pages you looked at, how you arrived at the site and how long you stayed.
- Cookies and similar technologies — small files stored by your browser, used by the advertising and analytics tools described below.
Photographs
We take before and after photographs of the vehicles we work on. These are a record of the job and we also use them in our gallery, on social media and in advertising. We blur number plates before publishing. If you'd rather we didn't publish photographs of your vehicle at all, just tell us before or after the job and we won't — it makes no difference to the price or the work.
Why we collect it
- To answer your enquiry and give you a price.
- To arrange a time, find your vehicle and carry out the work.
- To contact you about your booking, including reminders and follow-ups such as the Diamond refresh reminder.
- To keep business records, including for tax purposes.
- To honour our guarantee and warranty, which means keeping a record of what was done, when, and to which vehicle.
- To improve the website and understand which advertising actually works.
- To show our work, with number plates blurred.
We only send you marketing messages if you've asked us to. We don't add you to a mailing list just because you booked a job.
Cookies and advertising tools
Meta Pixel
This website uses the Meta Pixel, a piece of code provided by Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram). It tells us how many people visit the site, which pages they look at and whether anyone who clicked one of our ads went on to make an enquiry. It also allows us to show ads to people who have visited the site before.
The Pixel shares information about your visit with Meta, including your IP address, your browser and the pages you viewed. Meta may connect this to a Facebook or Instagram account if you have one. Meta's own privacy policy explains what they do with it: facebook.com/privacy/policy.
Our online booking runs on Google Calendar's appointment scheduling, so details you enter when booking are handled by Google. This site also loads its typeface from Google Fonts, which involves your browser contacting Google's servers. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
Turning it off
- Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings.
- You can change what Meta shows you in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences.
- You can opt out of interest-based advertising from many companies at youronlinechoices.com.au.
Blocking cookies won't stop you using this site, booking a job, or calling us.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone who isn't helping us run the business. The services we use are:
- Meta Platforms — through the Meta Pixel and our advertising, as described above.
- Google — for online bookings, website fonts, and our Google Business Profile.
- Netlify — the service that hosts this website.
- Our phone and email providers — because that's where your messages arrive.
- Our accountant and the ATO — where we're required to keep or produce business records.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Some of these companies store information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. By using this website or contacting us through it, you consent to your information being handled this way.
How we store it and how long we keep it
Enquiries and bookings reach us as text messages and emails, and are held in the business phone and email account. Those accounts are password protected and we take reasonable steps to keep them secure. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
We keep job records for as long as we need them to honour our guarantee and warranty and to meet our record-keeping obligations, which for business and tax records is generally up to seven years. Enquiries that don't turn into a job are deleted once they're no longer useful.
Accessing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask us at any time to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct anything that's wrong, delete it, or stop using photographs of your vehicle. Email hi@haloautostyling.com.au or text 0448 514 697 and we'll sort it out, normally within a few days.
There's no charge for this. We may need to keep certain records where the law requires it, and if that applies we'll tell you.
Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your personal information, contact us first and we'll try to put it right. If you're not satisfied with how we respond, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Children
This website and our services are intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the business changes or as we start using different tools. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
